This 2023 Pride Month has been a time of reflection for us at Brownieland because we are constantly looking for ways to engage, support, and celebrate LGBTIA+ communities in the great city of Atlanta, Georgia. We honored the history and legacy of June by connecting with those that need it most. As always, we wish to do our part when it matters, and tell great stories along the way.
Community building and empowerment starts on the ground which is why we volunteered with the Empowerment Resource Center at their 16th Annual Take Charge. Get Tested Event, servicing the community of downtown Atlanta. ERC’s event was open to the public for free health screenings. Of course, their seminal event is a free HIV/AIDs test for anyone that can stand getting their finger pricked! They also offered behavioral health services by trained professionals, additional Hepatitis C testing, as well as free food, music, snacks, and overall fun.
