At Brownieland Pictures, our passion for storytelling extends beyond the screen — we are dedicated to giving back to our community, especially when it comes to supporting causes close to our hearts. As lifelong animal lovers, we’ve had the privilege of volunteering with numerous animal shelters over the years, helping organizations that rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for animals in need. That’s why we were thrilled to attend and support Paws for Cocktails, a longstanding Atlanta event dedicated to raising funds for animal welfare.
About Paws for Cocktails
The OG Paws for Cocktails made a triumphant return to Park Tavern, bringing together Atlanta’s animal lovers for an unforgettable evening in support of Canine CellMates and Ahimsa House. Founded in 2003 by Elizabeth Azar, a former Senior Writer Producer at WSB-TV, this beloved fundraiser has raised nearly $500,000 for local animal-focused organizations, including the Atlanta Humane Society, FurKids, and Small Dog Rescue. This year’s event featured Emcee Justin Farmer, electrifying live music by School of Rock Atlanta and Trey Daniels, and surprise celebrity guests who helped keep the energy high. Attendees enjoyed a vibrant mix of silent and live auctions, along with light hors d’oeuvres and a drink ticket with admission. The night was a celebration of community, compassion, and commitment to helping animals in need.
The Impact of Your Support
Ahimsa House
Ahimsa House provides a safe haven for pets affected by domestic violence, allowing their owners to seek safety without leaving their beloved animals behind. Since its founding in 2004, Ahimsa House has sheltered thousands of animals — including dogs, cats, horses, pigs, and even snakes — through a network of foster homes and boarding facilities across Georgia. The organization relies heavily on donations and grants, with an estimated $2,000 needed to care for one survivor’s pets.
Canine CellMates
Canine CellMates is a unique rehabilitative program that pairs incarcerated individuals with shelter dogs, offering both a second chance at a better life. Through a 10-week training course, men at the Fulton County Jail work closely with dogs, providing education, training, and care that helps these animals transition into forever homes. The program has since expanded beyond jail walls with the Beyond the Bars initiative, fostering a sense of kinship and community for participants upon their release.
Join Us in Making a Difference
We at Brownieland Pictures believe in using our platform to amplify the voices of those making a difference — whether that’s through storytelling or direct action. By attending Paws for Cocktails, you’re not just enjoying a fantastic evening; you’re directly contributing to organizations that are changing lives, both human and animal.
Let’s raise our glasses (and our paws!) to a night of fun, fundraising, and fur-friendly support.
