At Brownieland Pictures, we’re passionate about partnering with nonprofit organizations to create impactful videos that inspire change. In honor of GivingTuesday, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what makes this global day of generosity so special—and why it’s the perfect time to give back.

What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday started in 2012 with a simple yet powerful idea: dedicating a day to doing good. What began as a grassroots effort has blossomed into a global movement, uniting millions of people across more than 80 countries each year. It’s a day that reminds us how even the smallest acts—offering a kind word, lending a helping hand, or supporting a cause—can spark meaningful change. Together, these collective acts of kindness strengthen communities and foster a culture of giving worldwide.

This year, our communities need support more than ever. GivingTuesday is about more than how much you give—it’s about the heart behind it. When we come together with kindness, empathy, and action, we create something greater than ourselves: a world rooted in compassion and shared humanity. It’s all about “radical generosity”—the belief that generosity isn’t just kind but transformative. Every act of giving matters, no matter the size, and it has the power to inspire even more generosity.

Spotlight on GAgives

Here in Georgia, the spirit of GivingTuesday shines brightly through GAgives, an initiative led by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN). Since its launch in 2012, GAgives has raised over $155 million for thousands of nonprofits across the state. By partnering with the global GivingTuesday movement in 2017, GAgives expanded its reach and impact, inspiring Georgians to support local causes through donations, volunteer efforts, and advocacy.

This year’s GAgives on GivingTuesday takes place on December 3, 2024, giving us all a chance to embrace the spirit of giving after the shopping-focused frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s an opportunity to unite communities, uplift vital causes, and celebrate the incredible work of nonprofits across Georgia.

How to Get Involved

At Brownieland Pictures, our team regularly volunteers with Atlanta nonprofits, supporting their important work through hands-on efforts. Here’s how you can make a difference this GivingTuesday:

• Donate: Support a nonprofit that speaks to your heart. Even small contributions can have a big impact.
• Volunteer: Offer your time to a local organization or cause. Your hands-on support can provide much-needed resources and encouragement.
• Advocate: Use your voice to raise awareness. Share stories, spark conversations, and rally your network around causes you care about.
• Share Your Story: Post about your GivingTuesday efforts with the hashtag #GivingTuesday to inspire others to join the movement.
