For our July Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Pictures Team celebrates National Give Something Away Day by donating clothing to Community Connections, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Georgia’s foster youth. Community Connections partners with families and the community to ensure children in foster care are placed in safe, healthy, and permanent homes.
Our donations supported The Closet Connection, one of Community Connections’ most impactful programs. The Closet Connection provides foster families and those facing challenges with free access to new and gently used clothing, shoes, and books for infants, children, and teens. It provides families with much-needed items so they can focus on creating a nurturing home environment rather than worrying about immediate material needs.
The Closet is designed to feel like a boutique. This approach ensures that children in foster care have a positive, dignified experience when selecting items. The program emphasizes equity and inclusion by offering adaptive clothing for children with medical needs, carrying diverse books and culturally representative apparel, and stocking high-quality items for all children in care. Community Connections even partners with local businesses like Little Shop of Stories to keep their book selection inclusive and meaningful.
Community Connections meets the growing need for foster parents by providing quality customer service and support.
In addition to The Closet Connection, Community Connections provides Intake Support Services, 24/7 on-call support, and the Ready Together Program, which equips children entering care with essentials such as diapers, toys, clothing, sleeping gear, and school supplies. These services are crucial during the first hours and days of placement, helping children feel secure and supported while easing the transition for foster families.
The Brownieland Team is proud to support the work of Community Connections and their mission to serve children and families across the metro Atlanta area. Programs like The Closet Connection not only provide practical resources but also help the wider community understand the importance of foster care through volunteer involvement and community partnerships.
If you would like to support The Closet Connection, consider donating new or gently used clothing, shoes, or books for infants through teenagers. Donations are accepted year-round. By giving something away, we help create space for connection, healing, and hope.
At Brownieland Pictures, we create powerful videos that help nonprofits share their mission, move hearts, and drive change. But our commitment doesn’t stop there. Each month, we volunteer with a different Atlanta nonprofit to stay connected, give back, and deepen the impact behind every story we tell. Ready to inspire action? Let’s make a difference together.
