Brownieland’s Video Work with Sustainability-Focused Organizations

Second Helpings Atlanta: Reducing Waste, Feeding Communities

We collaborated with Second Helpings Atlanta (SHA) to create a video showcasing their sustainable food rescue efforts. SHA prevents good food from going to waste by distributing it to those in need, and their environmental impact is massive. Their food rescue operations divert edible food from landfills, significantly reducing methane emissions. Through composting efforts, they transform food scraps into nutrient-rich soil while minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. Their Field-to-Fork program partners with local farms to rescue surplus produce, further preventing waste at the source. SHA’s 90-minute rescue model ensures fuel efficiency, reducing the carbon footprint of their operations. Altogether, their efforts keep countless tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

Georgia Tech’s Ideas to Serve: Innovating for Environmental Impact

In partnership with Georgia Tech, Brownieland produced a video for the Ideas to Serve (I2S) program, which encourages students to address pressing sustainability challenges. I2S emphasizes focus areas such as climate justice, food access, and building sustainable communities. The program uses a systems thinking approach to explore the root causes of environmental issues, engaging with local communities to co-create solutions. Students collaborate with nonprofits and residents to examine issues like pollution, lack of green space, and waste management. I2S also supports innovations in green startups, circular economy models, and clean energy. By mentoring student changemakers, the program nurtures bold solutions that are both sustainable and socially equitable.
