Technology is moving faster than ever it seems these days. And the ability to capture images on a camera is no exception. The evolution of camera technology has totally revolutionized the way we capture and produce video content, from the early film camera days all the way to the smartphone. These advancements have helped sectors such as nonprofits, who now can achieve professional video that is accessible and affordable.

In the early days, cameras were large and used film reels. These were bulky and difficult to operate. Also, the processing of the film cost a fortune. This limited production to well-funded studios or organizations.

But the use of digital cameras has changed that. Digital cameras use sensors, not film stock, which drastically cuts down on costs. Also, since there is no need for processing the film, video creators could now watch their footage instantly.

And smartphones have become powerful filmmaking tools in their own right. You literally have a video camera everywhere you go now. These cameras have such nifty tricks as optical image stabilization, slow motion, and time-lapse. Commercials and feature films have even been shot with smartphones.

With the advancement of camera technology high-quality video production is now more accessible to organizations and institutions that didn’t originally have the budget or resources for such large-scale productions. Nonprofits, for example, with smaller budgets can now partner with companies like Brownieland to achieve professional-grade content that can communicate their messages more effectively.

Inventions can help us become more efficient, use fewer resources, and take us to new places we never knew existed. Here’s to the inventors. Keep dreaming!
