International Volunteer Day (IVD), observed annually on December 5, is a time to celebrate the incredible contributions of volunteers around the world. It’s a day to honor those who dedicate their time, energy, and skills to building stronger, more compassionate communities. Volunteerism is about more than just lending a helping hand – it’s about being part of the solution, fostering meaningful connections, and making a lasting difference in the lives of others.
At Brownieland Pictures, volunteerism is at the core of who we are. Over the past seven years, we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with more than 60 remarkable organizations across metro Atlanta. These nonprofits are the heart and soul of our community, and their dedication to their missions inspires us every day.
This International Volunteer Day, we not only want to celebrate the volunteers who keep these organizations thriving but also reflect on the meaningful work we’ve been fortunate to support throughout the year. As 2024 comes to a close, we’re excited to feature a year in review of the Atlanta nonprofits we’ve partnered with. Read on to learn more about the incredible organizations we’ve worked with in 2024, and join us in celebrating the difference they make every single day. To all the volunteers out there, thank you for your tireless commitment – you truly make the world brighter.

New American Pathways
At Brownieland Pictures, giving back is a big part of who we are. For our November Brownieland Volunteer Project, we featured New American Pathways, an Atlanta-based nonprofit doing amazing work to help refugees and immigrants not just get by but truly thrive in Georgia. The Brownieland team participated in New American Pathways’ Winter Coat Drive. We donated gently used coats and jackets to help families stay warm this winter. It’s a small thing, but it makes a huge difference for families adjusting to a new home, new challenges, and new weather. Read more
Atlanta Botanical Garden
Brownieland Pictures joined the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s annual Scarecrows in the Garden event, adding our own creative twist to the seasonal display. As our October Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team took to crafting a one-of-a-kind scarecrow. We thought it apropos to call him Steven Scareberg for our video production inspired display! Each fall, the Garden’s paths transform with imaginative scarecrows from local businesses, nonprofits, and artists, and we were thrilled to contribute to this beloved tradition. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the fall season while exploring the Garden’s beauty. Read more

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
July marks National Make a Difference to Children Month, an annual celebration initiated in 2006 by Kim Ratz, a dedicated children’s advocate. Volunteering with a nonprofit that supports children makes a profound difference because it directly addresses the needs and challenges that children face, providing them with the resources, guidance, and support essential for their development and well-being. For our July Volunteer Project, Brownieland donated to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. As the only freestanding pediatric healthcare system in Georgia, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is the trusted leader in caring for kids. Read more
Livable Buckhead
For our June Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team took part in Livable Buckhead’s inaugural Secret Gardens of PATH 400 volunteer event. Twenty small, themed secret gardens were created along PATH400 by the group of volunteers. The event attendees voted for the top three most creative gardens and we are excited to say that the Brownieland Team took 2nd place! This was incredibly meaningful to us as we are members of the Buckhead neighborhood and appreciate all that Livable Buckhead does for our community. Read more
The Sandwich Project
For our May Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team lent a hand to The Sandwich Project, a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to providing sandwiches to the homeless and food insecure families in the Atlanta area. We had fun making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and found the website extremely informative regarding the process of making and delivering sandwiches. The Sandwich Projects believes in the transformative power of community, compassion, kindness, and the fundamental right of every person to access nourishing food. Read more
