Honoring Healthcare and Mental Health in May: Brownieland's Impactful Video Collaborations

At Brownieland Pictures, we’re proud to celebrate our collaborations with Atlanta nonprofit partners who are working to improve healthcare access, mental wellness, and emotional support in our communities. Our longstanding partnerships with nonprofit organizations in the healthcare space have allowed us to share impactful stories of courage, support, and transformation. As we recognize healthcare-related observances this May, it’s an opportunity to spotlight the incredible work these organizations are doing while reflecting on the privilege it’s been to help bring their missions to life through video storytelling.

May begins with National Nurses Day, a celebration of the compassionate professionals who are often the first line of care for patients. Their work is foundational to every healthcare system, and during National Hospital Week from May 11 to the 17th, we extend our gratitude to all hospital staff and health professionals who serve with commitment and care. Brownieland Pictures has had the privilege of creating video content with some of Georgia’s leading healthcare institutions. We’ve helped create informational videos such as the Children’s Spinal Fusion overview and the Department of Public Health’s 100 Babies Project, each designed to educate, inform, and support health initiatives across Georgia. We also collaborated with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for their 100th Anniversary, and with Grady Health System to celebrate their incredible team of 40-year employees in a spotlight video.

Mental Health Awareness Month is another vital observance in May, and our work with CHRIS 180 exemplifies the transformative power of mental health services in our community. CHRIS 180 offers a variety of programs supporting mental health, including a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program for substance use disorders and school-based mental health services. They focus on reducing stigma, especially within minority and LGBTQ+ communities, by providing culturally competent care and community education. Additionally, CHRIS 180 offers free suicide prevention training and works actively to create accessible mental health support for vulnerable populations in Atlanta. Brownieland is honored to have partnered with CHRIS 180 on numerous projects, including this video that shares their mission and impact.

In addition to mental health, May is Better Hearing and Speech Month, an observance led by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) since 1927. This month raises awareness of communication disorders and the professionals who help treat them. One of our longstanding collaborators, the Atlanta Speech School, offers comprehensive Clinic Services that provide diagnostic and therapeutic support for speech, language, literacy, audiology, and occupational therapy needs from infancy through adulthood. Their Occupational Therapy program helps children build essential life skills like sensory processing, motor coordination, handwriting, and self-care, using engaging therapy environments equipped with rock climbing walls and suspended swings to foster growth and independence. Brownieland created this video highlighting their OT services, and we are proud to support their vision of helping every child find their voice.

Women’s Health Week, celebrated from May 11 to the 17th, and National Women’s Check-Up Day on May 12, remind us of the importance of equitable access to health resources for women and girls. At Brownieland, we are fortunate to have collaborated with several nonprofits that are deeply committed to this mission. Jewish Family & Career Services (JF&CS) of Atlanta offers programs like BeWellATL, which provides free mental health workshops for youth and families, and the Shalom Bayit program, which supports women experiencing abuse. In September, our team had the opportunity to volunteer with JF&CS, and we shared that experience in this blog post.

Another valued partner, the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, is making a significant difference through its All Girls Forward initiative and its long-term investment in the mental health of women and girls. Their programs promote education, mental well-being, and career preparedness for women and girls living in poverty. We’re honored to have collaborated with them on a video for the Sue Wieland Award, which celebrates individuals making a positive impact on women’s lives. Their commitment to health access and empowerment deeply resonates with our mission to amplify stories that drive change.

At Brownieland, we recognize that health extends beyond hospitals and clinics; it’s about ensuring people have the resources and support they need to thrive. As we honor healthcare heroes, advocates, and organizations this May, we reflect with gratitude on the stories we’ve helped tell. Whether through training and educational content, mission-driven overviews, fundraising campaigns, testimonial pieces, PSAs, or event highlights, our videos are crafted to uplift voices and drive meaningful change. Each collaboration affirms our belief in the power of video to inspire, educate, and take action. We look forward to continuing to spotlight the incredible nonprofits that are healing hearts, minds, and communities one story at a time.
