Brownieland Pictures Wins 26th Annual Communicator Award of Excellence for “The Gift”

We have some exciting news to share! Brownieland Pictures has received a 26th Annual Communicator Award of Excellence selected by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts in the Individual-Education Category for “The Gift,” a video we produced in partnership with the Atlanta Speech School’s Rollins Center for Language and Literacy.

Aptly named The Gift, this video demonstrates how teachers can transform the classroom into a dual language learning supportive environment and embrace the gifts of their students. Dual language learners, or learners who think, read, and write in more than one language, are a large part of our school-aged population. One in four children under eight years old in the US is a dual language learner. But too often, they are not recognized for the language and culture that they bring to a classroom.

The Atlanta Speech School’s Rollins Center for Language & Literacy provides research-based professional development for teachers of children birth through third grade. Rollins’ instructors work with educators, healthcare agencies, families, and child-facing professionals to further literacy through coaching, professional learning, and online learning.
