For our April volunteer project, the Brownieland Team signed up for EcoAddendum’s Stewardship Forest Restoration Volunteer Event at Grove Park through Hands On Atlanta as part of their Earth Day celebration. On our walk through the forest, we learned so much interesting information about Georgia native plants from our knowledgeable guide, Dajawn. Once we arrived at Proctor Stream, the team began removing invasive plants from the stream bank. It was a perfect day to get outside and lend a helping hand to the community through service.

EcoAddendum’s mission is to raise awareness about Georgia’s rich natural environment and to reconnect people with the natural world, through high value outdoor experiences and education. Eco-A is dedicated to introducing Georgia’s vast diversity of native species to people of all ages through their popular naturalist walks, helping all to realize the fascinating interconnections that make nature’s life-sustaining systems work. Their programs seek to restore health and well-being to people and communities as well as to the trees, plants, wildlife and native ecosystems of Atlanta and the Southeast. Eco-A will be hosting a special series of volunteer work sessions in select high value greenspaces in the City of Atlanta. They need our help to carefully remove invasive species in order to protect rare and uncommon natives. For more information or to sign up, click here.
