Lights, Camera, Education: Brownieland Pictures Teams Up with Marietta City Schools for Inspiring Video Project

The Emily Lembeck Early Learning Center is the newest school within the Marietta City School district and is committed to encouraging student voices while laying a solid foundation for literacy and social emotional learning. Brownieland is thrilled to have partnered with some incredible nonprofits to bring this new video to life. Emily Lembeck Center’s Language and Literacy liaison, Sally Miller, tells us more about this inspiring video project.

Marietta City Schools, GEEARS, Resilient Georgia, Cobb Collaborative and Brownieland Pictures worked together to create Parenting -Take Time to Connect. The commonality and focus of these organizations is the emotional well being of young children. We know that when children feel safe, connected, and loved they can be successful in learning and growing to meet their fullest potential.

The struggle to balance the many roles and responsibilities of being a parent can be overwhelming and disheartening. We wanted to create a video that would not only encourage but that might also inspire parents and caretakers to “take time to connect” with their kids. In a world filled with images and videos of families living their “best and biggest” lives on social media, our hope was that parents might see the value of the small, everyday moments with their children. The families in this video began to understand the value of a short but sweet bedtime routine, that dinner time – whether in the car eating fast food or at the table sharing a meal – is a great time to have a meaningful conversation, that giving your undivided attention to your children for the 2 minutes of dropping off and picking up in carpool can be the most impactful two minutes of your child’s day, and that singing a silly song, or sharing a funny joke is the very thing that brings a smile to your child as they navigate the hard parts of a long day. Parenting is less about being great and more about being present. Share a few simple and connecting moments with your kids each day – you will be so grateful that you did.
