At Brownieland Pictures, giving back is a big part of who we are. For our November Brownieland Volunteer Project, we are thrilled to spotlight New American Pathways, an Atlanta-based nonprofit doing amazing work to help refugees and immigrants not just get by but truly thrive in Georgia. For this month’s volunteer project, the Brownieland team participated in New American Pathways’ Winter Coat Drive. We donated gently used coats and jackets to help families stay warm this winter. It’s a small thing, but it makes a huge difference for families adjusting to a new home, new challenges, and new weather.
In addition to the Winter Coat Drive, New American Pathways is hosting an annual holiday drive called “End of Year Cheer,” which provides gifts for over 1,000 refugee children and teens. Your generosity ensures that no child is forgotten this holiday season. There are several ways to get involved:
- Shop their Amazon Wish List
- Donate directly by texting EOYC2024 to 41444
- Buy gifts of your choice from a local store and drop them off at their office. If you are hosting a Toy Drive, they can coordinate pick-ups.
- Join them for a Gift Wrapping Party on December 18th and 19th, from 10am-4pm, to wrap gifts for distribution.
New American Pathways offers a wide range of services that guide refugees and immigrants from the moment they arrive all the way to achieving citizenship. Their programs are designed to meet people where they are, focusing on four key milestones: safety and stability, self-sufficiency, success, and service. Whether it’s helping families get back on their feet quickly or supporting students through after-school programs, their impact is huge. To date, 96% of families that New American Pathways resettle are self-sufficient within 180 days, 189 refugee youth are served in New American Pathways’ after-school programs each year, and 99% of citizenship applications they submit are approved. New American Pathways isn’t just for refugees—it’s an organization of refugees, built by and for the community it serves.
Being a part of New American Pathways’ coat drive this month reminded us how much stronger our community becomes when everyone has a chance to succeed. There are many ways to get involved with New American Pathways throughout the year. In the words of New American Pathways: “Together, let’s spread joy and make this season special!”
