Student Voices Leading the Way: Brownieland Pictures Premieres New Rise Video with EO Schools

We’re excited to share our newest video collaboration with Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS), an organization committed to closing the opportunity gap in education by increasing access to advanced coursework for students who are often left out of those spaces. Our latest video spotlights the RISE program, short for Re-Imagining Student Engagement, and features students in New York City who are shifting the narrative around what it means to be a leader in the classroom.

EOS has been a driving force for equity in over 250 school districts across 35 states. Their mission centers on expanding access to Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses for students of color and students from low income backgrounds, students who are frequently overlooked for these academic pathways despite having the ability to succeed in them. Through strategic partnerships, data informed outreach, and now student led initiatives like RISE, EOS is reimagining what academic engagement can look like.

When we traveled to NYC to film with the students in the RISE program, we saw that mission in action. These students are not only participating in AP courses, they are serving as ambassadors within their school communities, encouraging their peers to challenge themselves academically and rethink what is possible for their futures. What makes RISE so compelling is its peer to peer model. Students are not being spoken to, they are doing the speaking, the leading, the inspiring.

This is the kind of story we love to tell.

Building on a Strong Partnership: Continuing Our Work with Equal Opportunity Schools

This video marks the continuation of our collaboration with Equal Opportunity Schools. We previously partnered with EOS to document their work through the Action for Equity in History and Civics initiative, capturing how they are helping school districts expand access to AP U.S. History and Government courses for historically underserved students. That project laid the groundwork for an ongoing creative partnership rooted in trust, shared purpose, and the belief that education has the power to transform lives. You can read more about that project in our guest blog with EOS.

Over the years, Brownieland Pictures has had the privilege of creating educational videos that support learning, equity, and access. Working alongside education nonprofits has allowed us to craft content that helps amplify important work and honor the voices of those making a difference. Our partnership with EOS is a continuation of that commitment, one that brings together storytelling and student empowerment in a powerful way.

We are grateful to Equal Opportunity Schools for their continued trust in us as a creative partner. Through initiatives like RISE, EOS is helping to build a more inclusive and ambitious educational landscape, and we are honored to help tell that story.
