Charity Benevolent Fund Supports Heart Disease Awareness Month By Hosting Annual 5K Run/Walk

Last year, Brownieland Pictures celebrated our 10-year anniversary by volunteering with different nonprofits around Atlanta every month. We wanted to give back to these amazing organizations that help their communities.

The Brownieland Team was so inspired by volunteering through our #10in10 Volunteer Campaign that we have decided to continue the work again this year with a different nonprofit each month and share their stories. We will also check in with the organizations we partnered with last year to find out what’s new in 2018!

In February last year, the Brownieland Team honored Heart Disease Awareness Month by participating in Charity Benevolent Fund’s Annual Go For Red 5K Run/Walk to raise awareness and funds for heart health.

This year’s Charity Benevolent Fund Annual Go For Red 5K will be held on February 17th at Piedmont Park from 9 am to 12 pm. You can find more information about this event HERE.

Charity Benevolent Fund (CBF) sponsors 5k runs/walks and fun runs to raise awareness of diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and stroke by providing free heart and health screenings for residents across Metro Atlanta. Everyone is welcome to attend the annual race, including children, who have their own Kids Dash.

Other activities that CBF will offer this year include “Salute to Our Troops” where CBF honors men and women of the Armed Forces and their families for their service to our country. Over the last five years, CBF has provided hundreds of military children with school supplies and clothing, as well as tickets to the Atlanta Braves games. In July, CBF back-to-school events assist military students and students in need with free school supplies to help them start off the school year right. The CBF “Winter Harvest Coat Drive and 5k” provide the underserved in the community with new and gently-used coats, blankets, gloves and other necessities for the winter. CBF also sponsors a “Stamp Out Poverty Drive & 5K” providing garments, socks, hats, toiletries, canned food, dried food, and Thanksgiving dinners for the underserved in the community and social service agencies.
