Volunteering with Partnership Against Domestic Violence in Honor of National Women’s History Month

Last year, Brownieland Pictures celebrated our 10-year anniversary by volunteering with different nonprofits around Atlanta every month. We wanted to give back to these amazing organizations that help their communities. The Brownieland Team was so inspired by volunteering through our #10in10 Volunteer Campaign that we have decided to continue the work again this year with a different nonprofit each month and to share their stories. We will also check in with the organizations we partnered with last year to find out what’s new in 2018!

In celebration of National Women’s History Month, the Brownieland Team volunteered with Partnership Against Domestic Violence Atlanta last March to serve dinner to residents, honoring the women and children PADV accommodates. You can find out more about our volunteer experience HERE.

Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) is the largest and one of the oldest domestic violence organizations in Georgia. PADV works to end the crime of intimate partner violence and empower its survivors. Serving metro Atlanta since 1975, PADV transforms the lives of 18,000 women, children and teens every year through emergency intervention, violence prevention and long-term advocacy.

As a nonprofit organization, PADV’s body of staff is lean so that most of their resources can be devoted to the programs and services they provide to those in need. Therefore, volunteers are a significant asset to the advancement of the PADV mission. Their volunteer program meets the needs of the agency and is flexible enough to meet the needs of today’s volunteer as well with multiple roles, locations and shifts to choose from.

PADV offers volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals. Group volunteer opportunities can be any of the following:  assisting with holiday celebrations, organizing a supply drive, providing meals for shelter residents, or offering shelter beautification. Individual volunteer opportunities consist of the following: offering assistance through administrative support, bi-lingual advocacy, legal advocacy, legal advocacy, childcare, crisis line support, shelter support, special event support, and teen advocacy.
