For our April Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team organized a donation drive for the Atlanta Mission. So many generous people donated, resulting in our car being loaded to the brim with donations! Needless to say, we were honored to have the opportunity to provide necessities to people in need in metro Atlanta.
Atlanta Mission meets each person where they are, in their unique circumstances, to provide customized services to help them overcome the cause of their homelessness. Atlanta Mission transforms the lives of those facing homelessness by services including a shelter for men,a shelter for women and children, addiction recovery, spiritual recovery, vocational training, day services, and transitional housing.
Various factors lead to homelessness — job loss, eviction, family tragedy, addiction, domestic violence, a major health condition, and more. The common denominator is a major crack in their life foundation. The programs offered at Atlanta Mission are multi-pronged and multi-layered, designed to meet people where life has led them.
Since its 1938 beginnings, this nonprofit ministry has grown from a small soup kitchen to a multi-facility organization serving Metro Atlanta’s large homeless population. Today, Atlanta Mission provides emergency shelter, rehab and recovery services, vocational training, services, and transitional housing along with investing in spiritual, personal, and professional development of people, restoring and equipping them to intentional living. Atlanta Mission serves more than 1,000 homeless men, women, and children every day. Find out more about Atlanta Mission HERE.
