JANUARY:

Partnership Against Domestic Violence

Brownieland is proud to have volunteered with Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) Atlanta and to experience firsthand the incredible work they do! Read more HERE.

Open Hand Atlanta

For the Brownieland Pictures January Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team packed meals for Open Hand Atlanta, a nonprofit empowering people to live healthier, more productive lives! Read more HERE.

AFAEE (Teach On Project) 

The Atlanta Families Awards for Excellence in Education (now known as Teach On Project) has partnered with Brownieland Pictures for many years. In that time, we’ve celebrated with almost 50 winning educators. Brownieland had the opportunity to talk with 7 past winners and see what they have been up to since winning, what the award has done to change their lives, and why it’s so important for all of us to celebrate educators for their amazing contributions to our children and our communities. Georgia Radio Reading Service

Through her membership in the Junior League of Atlanta, Brownieland Pictures partner, Robyn Ellis Kranz volunteered at the Georgia Radio Reading Service (GaRRS), Georgia’s premier provider of information for individuals who are visually impaired or otherwise print-impaired. Read more HERE.

Atlanta Speech School

In January, our work with the Atlanta Speech School received a very prestigious audience. Early childhood center CEOs from China were shown our “Every Opportunity” and “The Promise” videos which we created with the Atlanta Speech School. The videos had Chinese subtitles added and had the audience members in tears, realizing the importance of the message. Read more HERE.

Read Right from the Start’s Cox Campus

Brownieland’s long time partner, The Atlanta Speech School, reached out to us to update some course work on the Read Right from the Start’s Cox Campus. Watch the video featuring brand new work in the Power of Language course. Read more HERE.

Junior League of Atlanta | GARRS

The Junior League of Atlanta (JLA) is an organization of women, committed to making a lasting transformation in the Atlanta community. Through volunteer opportunities offered by JLA, Robyn connected with Georgia Radio Reading Service (GaRRS). Read more HERE.

Trees Atlanta | Atlanta Beltline

For the Brownieland Pictures February Volunteer Project, we volunteered with Trees Atlanta assisting with projects at their facility and along the Atlanta BeltLine’s Westside Trail. Read more HERE.

MARCH:

Jewish Women’s Fund

Brownieland is proud to have partnered with the Jewish Women’s Fund of Atlanta and to spotlight the incredible work they do to promote social change and create positive opportunities for Jewish Women and Girls. Read more HERE.

Georgia Tech Ivan Allen College

Brownieland’s long-time partner, Georgia Tech Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, asked us back to create their Dean’s Appreciation Award video. This year they recognized Reed Catlett and John Stern, generous donors to the school. Read more HERE.

Read Across America

For our March Volunteer Project, Brownieland Pictures founders Robyn Ellis Kranz and Randy Frostig had the opportunity to read Dr. Seuss classics to 3rd and 5th graders at Garden Hills Elementary School for Read Across America DayRead more HERE.

APRIL:

Atlanta Mission

For our April Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team organized a donation drive for the Atlanta Mission. So many generous people donated, resulting in our car being loaded to the brim with donations! Needless to say, we were honored to have the opportunity to provide necessities to people in need in metro Atlanta. Read more HERE.

International Rescue Committee

Two years ago, in celebration of World Refugee Day, the Brownieland Team organized a donation drive for the International Rescue Committee Atlanta. We were honored to have the opportunity to provide necessities to refugees making a home for themselves in our city and we continue to be incredibly inspired by the efforts of the IRC Atlanta! MAY: 

Wylde Center

The Brownieland Team got our hands in the dirt volunteering at the Wylde Center for our May Volunteer Project! Wylde Center offers educational programs, events, and greenspaces that actively engage youth, families, and individuals in their environment, health, and community, and that develop skills in environmental science, sustainable urban living, organic gardening, health, and nutrition. Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center 

Brownieland partnered with the Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center (GTPAC) to produce a video on current and upcoming changes to the eligibility and verification process for veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses in the federal contracting arena. The video helps VOSBs and SDVOSBs find opportunities for contracts for the businesses. Read more HERE.

Atlanta Speech School | Read Right from the Start’s Cox Campus

Brownieland‘s partnership with the Atlanta Speech School has given us the opportunity to film some wonderful teachers and students as they continue on the path to literacy for all children in Georgia. In May, we had the opportunity to film some awesome kindergartners and teachers in Crisp County, GA for a couple days, where an incredible transformation is occurring in the classrooms. JUNE: 

The Howard School

The Howard School is a jewel in the crown of Atlanta’s education system. As the only K-12 school of its kind in Atlanta, they offer an individual approach to learning that is tailored to each student’s unique needs, strengths, and disabilities. Brownieland Pictures had the pleasure of meeting the incredible faculty, students, parents, and alumni of The Howard School and got the opportunity to tell their story in this video, “Journey to Joy.” Read more HERE.

Fresh Harvest | Compost Now

For our June Volunteer Project, Brownieland lent a hand at the Fresh Harvest and Compost Now Volunteer Day! A full circle partnership, Fresh Harvest delivers local organic produce to families in Greater Atlanta. CompostNow collects veggie scraps from many of those same customers, composts them, and delivers them to many locations, including the Fresh Harvest garden. Read more HERE.

Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta

One of the highlights of Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta’s annual meeting is honoring outstanding members of the community. Brownieland had the opportunity for the fourth year in a row to meet these generous individuals and capture their stories. Read more HERE.

JULY: 

Mayor’s Summer Reading Club | GEEARS | Atlanta Speech School

Brownieland was honored to work with the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club (MSRC) to create the video announcing this year’s MSRC book choice. The MSRC is a program for children ages birth to five and their families and takes place in locations throughout the city of Atlanta over the summer. Read more HERE.

Teach On Project

Even though one of our long-time partners, Atlanta Families’ Awards for Excellence in Education (AFAEE) changed its name to the Teach On Project (TOP), what remains is this incredible organization’s mission to elevate the quality of public education by identifying excellent educators and empowering them to expand their impact. Georgia Center for Child Advocacy

For our July Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team donated items to Georgia Center for Child Advocacy’s wish list. The Center’s mission is to champion the needs of sexually and severely physically abused children through prevention, intervention, therapy, and collaboration. Read more HERE.

Cox Campus

Read Right from the Start’s Cox Campus released two new continuing education courses for K through 3rd-grade teachers and school administrators produced by Brownieland Pictures in partnership with the Atlanta Speech School. Read more HERE.

AUGUST:

Atlanta Speech School | Gears | Alliance Theatre | Grady High School

August 20, 2019 marked the 400th year since the first enslaved Africans arrived in Jamestown. Working with the Atlanta Speech School, GEEARS and the Alliance Theatre as part of the Hear Every Voice community partnership, Brownieland created an audio piece featuring Timothy Miller of the Atlanta Opera, singing “This Little Light of Mine” to share with young students, helping them to showcase their voices (and lights!) with the world. Kate’s Club

For our August Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team signed up for Kate’s Club Adopt a Meal Program to provide and serve dinner for Kate’s Club Orientation Night. The mission of Kate’s Club is to empower children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. Read more HERE.

SEPTEMBER: 

ALS Association of Georgia

The Brownieland Team was proud to be a part of the 2019 Atlanta Walk to Defeat ALS for our third year in a row! An estimated 4,000 people gathered on Saturday, September 14th, at the Georgia State Stadium for the Atlanta Walk to Defeat ALS, which continues to be the largest Walk to Defeat ALS in the country. OCTOBER:

Girls On The Run | Atlanta Women’s Foundation | The Junior League of Atlantan | Jewish Women’s Fund of Atlanta

In celebration of International Day of the Girl, we showcased some incredible Atlanta organizations Brownieland Pictures has partnered with that help women and girls! Read more HERE.

Pajama Program Atlanta

The Pajama Program Reading Center Atlanta opened in 2017 and has welcomed thousands of children since that day. The children experience reading time with caring volunteers, choose a book to bring home, and receive a new pair of cozy pajamas. Read more HERE.

Junior League of Atlanta | Agape Youth & Family Center

For our October Volunteer Project, the Brownieland Team volunteered with Agape Youth and Family Center by serving dinner through the Junior League of Atlanta’s JLA Serves weekend. JLA Serves is a wonderful event created to help league members rally together for three days of impactful service at fourteen community partners across the metro Atlanta area. Agape Youth and Family Center empowers and supports underserved families within its community to discover, embrace, and achieve their full potential. Read more HERE

Atlanta Speech School

Second Helpings Atlanta 

Brownieland had the opportunity to volunteer with Second Helpings Atlanta, an organization that picks up perishable foods from grocery stores, events, and other locations, and delivers it to front-line agencies feeding the hungry in Atlanta. Read more HERE.

At Brownieland Pictures, our mission is to empower nonprofits by expanding their reach and engaging communities through stories that inspire and motivate. We do this by partnering with nonprofits to create emotionally compelling videos that make a difference and by giving our time through volunteer work. The Brownieland Team was so inspired by our volunteer work through our #10in10 Volunteer Campaign last year that we continued volunteering with a different nonprofit each month in 2018 and sharing their stories!
