In March, the Atlanta Speech School hosted its Montag Family Community Lecture on a virtual platform. The lecture features Dr. Maryanne Wolf, who is known as a scholar, a teacher, and an advocate for children and literacy around the world. Brownieland worked with the Atlanta Speech School to create a Virtual Book Study for Dr. Wolf’s book, Reader Come Home: The Reading Brain in a Digital World. Watch the Montag Family Community Lecture where Dr. Wolf draws from her book to discuss her fascinating work on the deep reading brain and the relationship to the digital world. Check out this Brownieland blog post where you can explore the Cox Campus and watch Dr. Wolf’s personal messages along with the Atlanta Speech School’s rountable discussions.
The mission of the Atlanta Speech School is to help each person develop their full potential through language and literacy. The Atlanta Speech School effects transformative change in the lives of children and adults through research-based practices, innovation, advocacy, and partnerships with other organizations so that each child at the Atlanta Speech School and every child beyond the campus can acquire the language and literacy foundation essential for deciding their own future.
