At Brownieland Pictures, we believe that Stories for the Greater Good include every voice, especially those with four paws and wagging tails. In honor of National Rescue Dog Day, we’re reflecting on the meaningful partnerships we’ve built with animal welfare organizations across Atlanta. Whether through volunteer hours, community events, or spreading awareness, we are proud to support organizations that work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need.

PAWS Atlanta
As part of our 10-in-10 Volunteer Campaign, the Brownieland team spent time volunteering with PAWS Atlanta, a no-kill shelter that has served the community since 1966. PAWS Atlanta provides a wide range of services, including pet adoption, veterinary care, low-cost spay/neuter services, and community education. During our visit, we helped with tasks around the shelter, from socializing dogs and cats to assisting with cleaning and organizing donation supplies. What really stuck with us was how dedicated the staff and volunteers are making sure every animal is cared for with kindness and patience. Spending time with the team gave us a deeper appreciation for the role shelters like PAWS Atlanta play in building a more compassionate community.

Second Life Atlanta
In recognition of Adopt-A-Dog Month, we volunteered with Second Life Atlanta, a nonprofit thrift store with a powerful mission: to give animals a second chance at life. The organization was founded by a couple inspired by their rescue dog, Riley, and now operates two stores in the metro Atlanta area. Proceeds from donated goods fund life-saving grants for animal rescues, spay/neuter programs, and pet food banks. As volunteers, we helped sort and organize donations, knowing that each item sold helps pets find homes and receive essential care. Since opening its doors, Second Life Atlanta has donated over $1.8 million to animal welfare organizations—an inspiring testament to the power of community-driven support.
Second Life Atlanta offers a variety of volunteer roles that make a real difference for animals in need. Find out how you can get involved here.

Piedmont Park Dog Park
Keeping public spaces clean and safe for dogs and their owners is an important part of community life. That’s why we joined forces with Piedmont Park Conservancy to help beautify the park’s dog areas. With over three acres of off-leash space, Piedmont Park’s dog parks are among the most popular in Atlanta. Our team assisted with cleanup efforts, landscaping, and general maintenance, helping to ensure that pets and their people can continue to enjoy this much-loved outdoor destination. Supporting dog-friendly public spaces is just one more way we contribute to a pet-friendly Atlanta.

Paws for Cocktails
We were thrilled to attend the Paws for Cocktails fundraising event, hosted by LifeLine Animal Project to support local animal rescues. In addition to LifeLine’s lifesaving shelter work, the event spotlighted partners like Ahimsa House, which helps domestic violence survivors escape with their pets, and Canine Cell Mates, a program that pairs incarcerated men with shelter dogs for mutual rehabilitation. It was a powerful evening celebrating how animals can help heal and connect communities.
If you’re looking to get involved with LifeLine, you can volunteer at any of their locations. Learn how to help here.

This National Rescue Dog Day, we encourage you to adopt, volunteer, foster, or donate to one of the many organizations working to protect and uplift Atlanta’s rescue animals. Even small actions can lead to big changes—and every wagging tail and joyful bark is a testament to that impact.
Happy National Rescue Dog Day from all of us at Brownieland Pictures!
