Brownieland Gives Back: Volunteering with Kate's Club to Support Grieving Youth

For our March volunteer project, The Brownieland Team once again had the privilege of participating in Kate’s Club’s Adopt a Meal program! This initiative ensures that children, teens, and families attending Kate’s Club programs receive nourishing meals as they navigate the challenges of grief. By serving a meal and connecting with families, we witnessed firsthand the profound impact of community, kindness, and support in helping young individuals heal after the loss of a loved one.

Brownieland has proudly supported Kate’s Club through various volunteer efforts over the years. In addition to volunteering with the Adopt a Meal program, we participated in the 2021 We Come Together as One Memory Walk, which honored those in the Kate’s Club community affected by COVID-19. Most recently, we took part in the 2024 Memory Walk, showing our continued commitment to their meaningful work. Beyond these events, Kate’s Club offers a range of impactful programs, such as Clubhouse Days, Family Nights, and Camp Good Mourning, all designed to provide stability, healing, and a sense of belonging for grieving children and teens. We are honored to support their mission and look forward to continuing our work with organizations that make a real difference in the community.

Kate’s Club is an Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and teens coping with the loss of a parent, sibling, caregiver, or other significant person in their lives. Since its founding in 2003, Kate’s Club has helped over 10,000 grieving young people and their families by providing a safe space where they can connect with others who understand their experience. Through its grief support programs, the organization fosters connection, emotional expression, and personal resilience.

With a growing presence across Georgia and virtual resources available nationwide, Kate’s Club ensures that grieving individuals can access the support they need. Their Clubhouse Days offer monthly in-person grief support through social and therapeutic activities, while Virtual Programs provide flexible options for those unable to attend in person. Community Grief Groups extend structured support to schools, juvenile courts, and other community spaces. Parents and caregivers receive guidance through dedicated programs like Park Bench, a monthly peer support group, while young adults (18-30) can connect through LoKate, which offers both virtual and in-person grief support. Through these diverse resources, Kate’s Club builds a compassionate community where children, teens, and families can find hope and healing.
