Finding a job is challenging without the right resources, and for those who are less educated, the task can be daunting. In honor of National Literacy Day, Brownieland took the opportunity to offer assistance to job seekers at a seminar sponsored by Literacy Action. Attendees learned how to dress for success and prepare for interviews, while practicing their skills in mock interviews. Literacy Action’s mission is to build better futures for undereducated adults by teaching literacy, along with life and work skills, which will empower them to reach their highest potential.

Literacy Action, Inc. (LAI) was founded by volunteers in 1968. LAI provides free classes to adults who want to learn to read, write and improve their basic skills so they can build better lives for themselves and their families. As a leader in adult literacy, LAI offers a broad spectrum of opportunities for students to achieve regardless of their location, education, or goals. LAI’s support extends beyond solely academics as LAI encourages and helps to foster workplace, workforce and family literacy. Find out more about this important organization HERE.
