A Day in History: Atlanta Women’s Foundation with Kate Balzer Recap

Being that March was Women’s History Month, we wanted to celebrate by championing the organizations that have touched our hearts throughout the years. We collaborated with Kate Balzer from the Atlanta Women’s Foundation in 2021, just shy of one year into the global pandemic. The economic impacts of a global health crisis which has disproportionately impacted the lives of women and girls in our community continues, yet organizations like AWF fight on.

As a one-of-a-kind public foundation in Georgia dedicated solely to women and girls, AWF’s mission is to be a catalyst for change in those that need it most. They provide various grants and growth opportunities, like Inspire Atlanta and the Collective Impact Approach, to ensure that those in metro Atlanta live safe, economically self-sufficient, successful lives. We need these people, now more than ever.

While progress has been made, there is much work to be done, especially given the COVID-19 pandemic’s disproportionate effect on women. The economic and social barriers women faced prior to the pandemic have only been exacerbated.”

These programs are striving for success with multi-year funding; facilitated discussions to foster a safe environment for peer to peer sharing; program evaluation assistance; individualized one-on-one consultation; workshops and training; and interactive sessions that allow nonprofits an opportunity to share their work and explore collaboration.

During COVID-19, AWF has supported women when home was more important than ever. This is the impact of community building during such devastating economic and political circumstances. By contributing your resources to these initiatives, we can wade through tough times together.

“Now is a great time to learn more and get involved with AWF!”
